Here at DTS Attorneys we are now in the final stages of the year 2022 and all of us are working very hard to ensure that target dates for registration of 2022 will be met taking the holiday closure of the Deeds Office into consideration.
Together with Greyvenstein’s Attorneys we hosted the prestigious Property Stars 2022 on 17 November 2022 where we celebrated and rewarded the top selling agents of the past year.
In preparing my key note speech for the evening I considered the concept of success and was reminded of an interview which Madonna had with Vanity Fair where she said the following:
“I have an iron will. And all my life has always been to conquer some horrible feeling of inadequacy. I am always struggling with that fear. I push past that one spell of it and discover myself as a special human being and then I get to another stage and think I am mediocre and uninteresting. My drive in life is from this horrible fear of being mediocre and that is always pushing me, pushing me. Because even though I have become somebody I still have to proof that somebody. I still have to proof that somebody. My struggle has never ended and it probably never will.”
I have again realised the importance of setting the right goals for ourselves and to have clear and defined goals for our business.
When we founded DTS Attorneys in 2006 it was my vision to establish a boutique style attorney firm firmly grounded on a relational foundation. It was my goal never to chase numbers and always to value quality of work and service over quantity and profit.
Looking at DTS Attorneys today we are not as small as initially planned as our client focused approach has led to growth. However, our different departments remain small and the focus in each department remains client satisfaction.
So, when we come to the end of another year and we evaluate the firm we are happy to report that management believes that we have reached our goal of satisfying the needs of our clients and meeting the service level criteria which we set for the firm. Having said that I am fully aware that blind spots have been the fall of many a man or institution and I would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions as to how we can improve our service.
My challenge to each one of you is to evaluate your year, to determine what your goals were and how many of them have you achieved. Whatever the outcome, do not be discouraged and as you move forward ensure that those goals are realistic and achievable within your circumstances.
I wish you all a blessed festive season, a time of rest and quality time with your loved ones.
